  1. This is a demo version of OmniPage Direct, Caere's newest OCR package
  2. for the Mac.
  3.  
  4. OmniPage direct will scan and recognize text, and deposit the results
  5. direction into your application. OmniPage direct requires System 7 or higher
  6. and at least 4 megabyes of RAM. You will need a flatbed scanner; Direct 
  7. supports most models.

  9. To install, simply drag OmniPage Direct (located in the "OmniPage" folder
  10. in the "More Information" folder on your CD) to the "Apple Menu Items" folder
  11. inside your system folder. Run the applications you wish to enter text in
  12. (generally a word processor such as MacWrite), and select OmniPage Direct
  13. from the Apple menu.

  15. The first time you run the program you'll be asked to identify your scanner
  16. and its SCSI ID.

  18. This demo version of OmniPage Direct will only recognize the first half of
  19. anything you scan, and is limited to 25 scans.
